Execution requires lots of discussions on details about who is doing what, how are things going, and tracking progress – planning, doing, checking, acting – and responding along the way.
It’s really not that hard, but the constancy of purpose to keep on the progress, the tracking and the adjustments along the way is work that can get lost in the shuffle. You NEED to pay the taxman – and the marketing? Nothing requires you to do anything, and frankly sometimes marketing items can drop through the cracks as a consequence. It takes an extra effort and insight to keep on it and stay with it.
For 2014 our suggestion first and foremost is to have a strong business positioning and plan – that’s a given. The next step is to put a tracking system together that follows your key marketing metrics. You might have 10, 5 or even one – just know what they are and track them. Assign someone the accountability to follow it and make sure things stay on track. Put it into your CRM or simply track in an excel spreadsheet if it’s just one or two things – but track it.
With diligent execution you’ll attract more leads, convert more leads, and accelerate your growth. As local and global markets are forecast to continue growing in 2014, now is the time to get ready to take advantage of the opportunities. Roll up your sleeves with your marketing and get to work – you’ll be glad you did.
